Rook's Rest

A companion piece to the Targaryen dragon and/or to The Red Dragon and the Gold, or perfect on its own even with no reference to the source material!

Rook's Rest was the first great tragic battle of the Dance of Dragons, where three dragons fighting over the castle of Rook's Rest crashed together to the ground (at least this is how the battle went in the books, though in the TV series it was done a bit different) . I wanted to draw an intricate formal pattern for it, but also capture how, while fighting each other, each of them was ultimately biting into itself. Nobody really won this war and the whole of House Targaryen was lessened by it.
Hand carved in a plate of exotic wood and painted in lovely colours, Sunfyre gold, Meleys red and Vhagar green, with black and touches of silver.

The six-ways hanging string allows for hanging it in any direction.
