Upcycled - Blue Triskeles

The Triskeles, or Triskel, or Triskell is a symbol thousands of years old. Found around the Mediterranean in the far antiquity, its now most often associated with celtic and (neo)pagan tradition.

The three revolving arm of the triskeles can symbolise many different triple elements.  Water, Earth and Fire according to some, or Sky, Earth and Water, but also Sleep, Wake and Dream; Childhood, Adulthood and Old Age; Past, Present and Future. 

Whatever symbolic meaning the Triskeles may have for you, we love its dynamic, unstoppable nature, a true avatar of the changing seasons.  Even carved in wood, it never seems to stay put. 

One of a pair of heavy wooden platters we found at a flea market (teak?), now hand carved and bejeweled with a stunning labradorite centre-stone, opalite, blue striped agate and jade. 

Lay it on a table, or hang it to a wall, where the stones will play with the changing light.
